Overview
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating special projects within the UK CAA-approved Part-CAMO department. This role will focus on complex, high-value activities such as aircraft fleet inductions, lease transitions, audits, and pre-purchase inspections. The position requires technical understanding of continuing airworthiness, strong project management skills, and the ability to engage with multicultural stakeholders worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
* Lead, plan, and execute CAMO-related special projects, including but not limited to:
* Fleet Inductions: Manage the introduction of airline aircraft into CAMO oversight, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
* End-of-Lease & Start-of-Lease Projects: Oversee technical records reviews, aircraft inspections, and coordination with lessors/lessees.
* Pre-Buy Inspections (PPI): Organise and manage inspections, technical due diligence, and delivery of comprehensive reports to clients.
* Airworthiness Audits: Plan, conduct, and/or coordinate required audits on aircraft, records, and maintenance providers.
* Special Technical Projects: Deliver one-off assignments such as aircraft repossessions, fleet standardisation programmes, bridging checks, and AD/SB implementation campaigns.
Technical & Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure all projects are managed in compliance with UK CAA/EASA Part-CAMO regulations, client requirements, and international aviation standards.
* Maintain close coordination with CAMO engineers, Part-145 MROs, and regulatory authorities.
* Support the development of project documentation, procedures, and best practices for repeatability and efficiency.
Stakeholder Management:
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, lessors, airlines, regulators, and MROs during project execution.
* Communicate effectively across multicultural, international teams to align expectations and deliverables.
* Provide regular project progress updates, reports, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Travel & On-Site Duties:
* Undertake extensive worldwide travel to perform on-site audits, inspections, and project management oversight.
* Adapt quickly to diverse cultural, regulatory, and operational environments.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in project management within an aviation/CAMO/MRO environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK CAA/EASA Part-CAMO regulations and continuing airworthiness principles.
* Demonstrated experience managing aircraft transitions, PPIs, or fleet induction projects.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
* Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
* Ability to work independently under pressure and deliver within tight timelines.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with multicultural awareness.
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide (often at short notice).
Desirable:
* Professional Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile PM).
* Prior experience liaising with regulatory authorities and lessors/lessees.
* Familiarity with common industry software tools (AMOS, OASES, TRAX, or equivalent).
* Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or related technical discipline.
* Previous experience with repossessions, storage/return-to-service, or fleet reconfiguration projects.
