Job Overview
Principal Clinical Psychologist (Band 8b) – Adult Mental Health Development Stepped Care Initiative (18.75hrs) based in Central. The role offers a leadership opportunity to expand access to psychological therapies across stepped care mental health services in North Wales, supporting multidisciplinary staff and contributing to training, supervision and development programmes.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will benefit from BCUHB wide professional links across North Wales and will lead psychological therapy development, training and supervision initiatives. You will support clinical teams, collaborate with primary care mental health services, and promote research and clinical networking within and beyond North Wales. The role requires strong leadership, resilience and a commitment to quality service delivery.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Registration with HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist
* Good honours degree in Psychology, eligibility for BPS Chartered status
* Substantial supervised post‑qualification experience within adult mental health
* Ability to use highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, including empathy and reassurance, to convey complex information effectively in a highly emotive atmosphere
* Ability to prepare and present clinical and academic material for lecturing/training purposes
Desirable Criteria
* Advanced training in research design and methodology
* Record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals or professional books
* Experience of leading research or quality improvement projects
* Ability to speak Welsh
