Overview
Capel Manor College is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in Animal Management to deliver high-quality teaching across the Animal Management provision, with a focus on Higher Education programmes and Access to Higher Education pathways, including Veterinary Science and Animal Science and Welfare. The School of Animal Management offers courses from Level 1 through degree-level study, including Level 1 Introduction to Animal Care, Level 2 Animal Care Technical Diploma, Level 3 Animal Management Advanced Diploma, alongside Access to HE Diplomas, a Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship, and Higher Education programmes in Animal Management and Zoology. Students benefit from facilities and a diverse animal collection, including exotic, farm, and companion species, with reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds housed across campuses.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality, engaging and academically rigorous teaching that supports students’ progression into higher-level study and employment within the animal science sector.
* Plan and deliver stimulating lessons, set ambitious goals, and effectively monitor and assess student progress.
* Provide constructive feedback that enables students to develop scientific understanding, critical thinking, and academic skills, while modelling professional values and behaviours.
* Contribute to curriculum development and bring enthusiasm, innovation, and subject expertise to the classroom.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong scientific expertise in Animal Management or a related field.
* Experience delivering teaching or training, particularly in Higher Education and Access to HE contexts.
* Ability to inspire learners and support them to develop scientific understanding, critical thinking, and academic skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of students.
