About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Design & Build Mechanical Estimator to join a growing building services contractor delivering high-quality mechanical installations across a range of commercial and industrial projects.
This is a key role within the pre-construction team, responsible for producing accurate, competitive tenders and cost plans for mechanical building services packages. You will work closely with internal design teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop commercially viable solutions and deliver winning bids.
The ideal candidate will have strong design & build experience, excellent commercial awareness, and the ability to identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining technical compliance and buildability.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates and tender submissions for design & build projects.

Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.

Develop accurate cost plans, take-offs, and pricing schedules.
*
Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.

Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to enhance project efficiency and profitability.

Collaborate closely with internal design and pre-construction teams to ensure practical and cost-effective solutions.

Maintain awareness of market rates, labour costs, and material pricing trends.
*
Ensure tender submissions are compliant, commercially sound, and delivered within deadlines.

Provide support during tender clarifications, negotiations, and post-tender meetings.
*
Assist with the handover of secured projects to delivery teams.
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services sector.
*
Strong background in design & build mechanical project estimating.
*
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
*
Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
*
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
