We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Locum Consultant ENT Surgeon to join our well-established, dynamic team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a forward-thinking department that delivers high-quality surgery to sub-specialty levels.
What Makes This Role Special?
* Partnership Excellence: Work in close collaboration with the University Hospital of Southampton to provide a comprehensive sub-specialty ENT service and regional tertiary care. This partnership ensures our patients receive world-class treatment while offering you access to complex cases and cutting-edge techniques.
* Leadership Opportunity: While your primary focus will be supporting our benign head and neck and diagnostic ENT service, there is an opportunity to support the wider comprehensive elective ENT service. You will also be supported by Southampton's specialist head and neck team, giving you the best of both worlds - clinical leadership with expert backup.
* Educational Impact: Engage actively in our renowned training programmes, including:
* Comprehensive ENT workshops for other specialties
* The prestigious Wessex Sinus Surgery Course
* MAST Paediatric Airway Course
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients, and A&E
2. Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services, and primary care
3. Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues, and other members of the multidisciplinary team
4. Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care
5. Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
About Our Department

* Multidisciplinary care excellence
* Strong partnerships with tertiary and community services
* Progressive approach to patient care
* Commitment to teaching and training
* Active research and audit culture
We are looking for an enthusiastic and personable clinician who thrives in collaborative environments, with comprehensive experience in general ENT for both adult and paediatric populations, a strong commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, and the capability to provide consultant-level on-call cover. A passion for teaching, training, and mentoring junior colleagues is essential. The role offers leadership opportunities in otolaryngology subspecialty services, scope for service development and innovation, access to complex cases through our tertiary partnerships, and comprehensive CPD support.
Why Join Us?
* Collaborative Environment: Join a friendly, successful department with an established track record, working alongside highly motivated colleagues committed to excellence, supported by strong administrative and clinical systems, with opportunities for research collaboration and publication.
* Work-Life Balance: Supportive consultant rota arrangements, flexible working opportunities where appropriate, and comprehensive occupational health and wellbeing support.
This role offers the perfect blend of clinical challenge, leadership opportunity, and professional support. You'll be joining a team that values innovation, celebrates success, and is committed to providing exceptional patient care.
