British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processers in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this in to over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets. Salary £35,500 Job Purpose The purpose of this role is to deliver exceptional People Services that combine accuracy, compliance, and a strong employee focus. By owning core people processes and data integrity, you will build trust, enable great service delivery, and strengthen the foundations of our People function — helping shape how we support our people for the future. Core Accountabilities Act as the first point of contact for employee and manager queries, providing professional, solution-focused, and timely support across the full employee lifecycle. Deliver core People processes (onboarding, payroll coordination, data management, recruitment, lifecycle administration) with accuracy, consistency, and compliance to policy and legislation. Maintain data integrity within PeopleHub, ensuring all employee records, reports, and transactions are right first time and available in real time. Safeguard compliance with employment law, GDPR, and company policies, proactively identifying and escalating risks where appropriate. Partner with Payroll, People & Performance Managers, and Centres of Excellence to ensure seamless delivery of people processes and initiatives. Support the creation and accuracy of contracts, new starter documentation, right to work checks, and background screening to ensure compliance and a smooth onboarding experience. Provide clear and consistent communication around key employee lifecycle events such as parental leave, retirement, lifestyle breaks, and recognition programmes. Produce accurate reports and insights to support governance, Board reporting, and decision-making, contributing to a data-driven People function.
