School Nurse (Permanent)

Summary
Seeking a 1.0 School Nurse to join the School Nursing Team based at Coylton Health Centre. The role focuses on health and wellbeing for children, young people and their families, working in partnership with local communities, NHS services and other agencies.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver school nursing care, acting as a strengths‑based practitioner committed to our values of caring, safe and respectful.
* Work with children, families and multidisciplinary teams to enable optimal health outcomes.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies – Children and Young People Scotland Act (2014), GIRFEC policy, The Promise, and the re‑formed school nursing role and pathways.
* Improve health and wellbeing by implementing the pathway areas outlined in the Scottish Government's National School Nursing Pathway (2015) including:
o Child Protection
o Care Experienced Children
o Emotional/Mental Health and Wellbeing
o Homelessness
o Domestic Violence
o Substance Abuse
o Young Carers
o Sexual Health
o Youth Justice
o Transitions
Requirements
* Registered as a first level nurse with an existing first level degree.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Readiness to complete the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course if required, and willingness to work within a large team.
* Experience working with children and young people, multidisciplinary teams and caseload management is desirable.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Commitment to remain within NHS Ayrshire and Arran following successful completion of training.
Hours & Employment
Monday to Friday, 0900 – 1700. Permanent basis.
