Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Stoma Care Service at Scarborough Hospital. This role involves supporting patients throughout diagnosis, stoma formation surgery, discharge planning and ongoing reviews. The post holder will work across all Trust sites and perform home visits, ensuring flexible, patient‑centred care.
Key responsibilities
* Provide pre‑operative counselling, education and training for new stoma patients.
* Run a nurse‑led clinic and offer follow‑up care and home visits as required.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality care across hospital and community settings.
* Engage in regular stoma training for all levels of healthcare staff.
* Maintain case load and manage patient records in accordance with Trust procedures.
* Support patients in postoperative recovery and ongoing stoma management.
Qualifications and experience
* Registered Nurse with a nursing degree.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience at Band 5 level.
* Colorectal or stoma experience is essential.
* Excellent communication skills and a passion for patient care.
* Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Location & travel
Post holder based in Scarborough Hospital with duties across all Trust sites and home visits required.
