We are one of the largest Acute trusts in the UK with specialist services across the Geriatrics spectrum, on both our Acute hospital sites as well as our Frailty Virtual Ward and the exciting new services at the Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch.
As part of an investment to improve and develop our geriatric/ frailty facilities within the Trust, we are looking for enthusiastic innovative professionals to be part of the journey to lead and shape our team, so we can succeed in becoming one of the best Geriatric units in the country.
The post will be primarily based on an Acute Geriatrics Ward at one of our Acute Sites – Queen's or King George Hospital, working with the MDT. The postholder will participate in the community CGA clinics in St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub.
The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in or to lead on the development a subspecialty geriatrics service, enhancing our effective multi-disciplinary team to provide early comprehensive geriatric assessment and management to meet the needs of frail older patients at BHRUT.
The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision of junior medical staff including foundation doctors, internal medicine trainees, GP trainees, locally employed clinical fellows and registrar grade doctors in geriatrics and allied physician specialities.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.
Our patients are benefitting from our Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub .
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.
The majority of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
