We are looking for an individual with vision, enthusiasm, and subject expertise to drive the development of Media Studies as a key area of study and qualification for our students. This role is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Media education at Arthur Mellows Village College, ensuring students are engaged, challenged, and equipped with the skills they need in a media-driven world. The College have run a successful Media department for many years and the results have a long-standing history of being excellent. Many students pursue Media related courses at Undergraduate level or through apprenticeship routes. Many students choose to take the subject alongside Film Studies at A Level, which runs collaboratively with the Media department.
The Role
As Head of Media Studies, you will:
• Lead the development of an engaging and forward-thinking Media Studies curriculum.
• Stay up to date with media theory, production techniques, and digital trends, offering excellent theoretical and practical skills.
• Teach Media Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5 offering the BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production (2022) and the Level 3 Cambridge Technical Qualification in Digital Media where students study at Certificate, Extended Certificate and Foundation Diploma Levels. Experience in these qualifications is essential. Experience delivering GCSE and A Level Media is also desirable.
• Ensure high standards of teaching and learning, enabling all students to make excellent progress.
• Coordinate internal and external examinations in Media Studies.
• Build and maintain strong cross-curricular links and industry partnerships.
• Lead enrichment opportunities to enhance students' appreciation and understanding of Media.
• Raise the profile of Media Studies across the school through exciting learning opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with the Head of Film Studies to promote the creative arts across the school.
The Candidate

• Has experience teaching Media Studies at Vocational Level 2 and 3 as well as GCSE and A Level.
• Is an innovative curriculum designer who can bring lessons to life.
• Is eager to integrate digital media and project-based learning into the classroom.
• Has the ability to inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
• Can foster strong relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
