Finlay Jude is currently hiring on behalf of a leading organisation in the wastewater sector. They are seeking to enhance our Planning team by appointing a Senior Planner to support projects across the North West region. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that project timelines are realistic, closely tracked, and consistently updated to reflect progress.
Reporting directly to the Senior Planning Manager, you will collaborate with project teams to develop, monitor, and report on both tender and contractual programmes. A key part of your role will be to ensure that all stakeholdersincluding Design, Operational, and Commercial teamsare fully informed of critical activities and project risks at all times.
You will work in close partnership with the Commercial department to oversee cost monitoring, take ownership of multiple project schedules, and proactively drive delivery against agreed plans. Youll be expected to challenge delays and deviations, ensuring accountability and momentum throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities as a Senior Planner:
Collaborate with the estimating team to develop programmes based on tender documentation, ensuring they are both compliant and achievable
Prior experience in creating design programmes is advantageous Produce and maintain project programmes in line with contractual obligations, submitting updates for formal acceptance as required
Support or lead collaborative planning workshops to align project stakeholders
Coordinate with project teams to ensure consistency in methodology and output assumptions
Identify key risks and opportunities throughout the planning phase
Collect, consolidate, and share progress data, including explanations for any delays or deviations
Maintain the baseline programme and track progress against it
Monitor scope changes and adjust programmes accordingly
Participate in progress and project review meetings, presenting programme updates
Attend site meetings to gather real-time progress information
Lead the implementation of 4D planning during the construction phase
Escalate programme-related issues to the Senior Planning Manager and site leadership
Issue regular look-ahead programmes to support proactive project management
Ensure the completion of an accurate As-Built programme at project closeout
Stay informed on site operations and cost implications
Document the impact of site changes on the contract programme
Contribute to monthly progress reports in accordance with client requirements
Support the administration and maintenance of Primavera P6 planning software
Provide training on planning software to new users when needed
Essential Senior Planner Requirements:
Proven experience in planning civil and M&E design and delivery projects within a contracting environment
Sound understanding of current Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) practices; valid CSCS card holder
Familiarity with NEC3/NEC4 contract frameworks
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Advanced user of Primavera P6 planning software
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Skilled in identifying project risks and opportunities
Capable of performing effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
Comfortable managing tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
Results-driven with a clear focus on deliverables
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
Strong problem-solving abilities
Able to independently manage workload and meet deadlines
Desirable Attributes:
Experience within the water industry
Background in site-based engineering
Relevant professional qualifications
Holder of a current Water Hygiene card
Working knowledge of contract management platforms such as CEMAR and Aconex
