The Role We're looking for a hands-on SRE Manager to lead a team responsible for the scalability, reliability, and performance of our Critical National Infrastructure systems. This is a key role within the Technology department where you'll guide an SRE team, contribute directly to engineering efforts, and help shape the future of how we deliver world-class infrastructure. Youll combine strategic thinking with a bias for action, leading people, solving complex challenges, and ensuring our systems are stable, secure, and evolving with the needs of the business. What youll be doing Leading, mentoring, and developing a SRE team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning Contributing hands-on to engineering efforts, modelling SRE best practices around automation, incident response, and system scalability Driving strategic alignment between SRE initiatives and wider business and technology goals Overseeing the implementation of reliable and scalable infrastructure, leveraging cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code tooling Ensuring operational excellence through robust incident response processes, on-call management, and service postmortems Collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to embed reliability into our software delivery lifecycle About You Experience leading or managing an SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering team Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) Strong understanding of monitoring and logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams Nice to have: Experience with Critical National Infrastructure or public sector systems Ability to build and scale team capability through coaching and structured development Familiarity with modern software development practices and how SRE fits within agile team What to expect next 1st stage: Introduction call with a member of the TA team (30-45 mins) 2nd stage: Technical interview (60 mins) 3rd stage: Values interview (60 mins) Working at Nominet Our people make things happen, but our values are our compass as a company, guiding our day-to-day work and building our culture.
