Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you will work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we are effectively addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model, promoting good security behaviors and contributing to safeguarding our people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role, you will:
* Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks
* Provide leadership on assessing and managing security risks, including retained responsibilities
* Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to understand, evaluate, and mitigate risks
* Offer assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors
* Partner with Defra group Security to develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures
* Lead initiatives to enhance security culture through training, communication, and engagement
* Conduct governance meetings to oversee security decisions
* Maintain professional networks to stay informed about the latest security developments

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security unit, focused on organizational resilience and effectiveness. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience and skills required
The external security environment is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security specialist, you should have:
* An understanding of broader influences on organizational security to facilitate continuous improvement
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and motivate others
* Ability to build effective partnerships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communication, engagement, and implementing business change (beneficial but not essential)

This is a hybrid role; you will work from your nearest office in England and remotely. Some national travel may be required.
