Principal Civil Maritime Engineer
Bristol or Swansea (Hybrid - 3 days office/site)
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading international engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure and environmental programmes across the UK and globally.
They are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Maritime Engineer to join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team working on major projects within the water and maritime sector.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure schemes, supporting both UK and international programmes across the full project lifecycle.
As a Principal Maritime Engineer, you will:
* Lead and coordinate teams delivering complex maritime design projects.
* Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, scopes)
* Provide technical expertise across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
* Manage project timelines, budgets, and key milestones.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Mentor junior engineers and support team capability growth
* Contribute to bid development and technical proposals.
* Ensure compliance with design standards, codes, and quality assurance processes.
About You
* Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
* Strong experience within a design consultancy environment
* Proven leadership in managing engineering design teams.
Expertise in maritime structures such as:
* Berthing structures
* Quay walls
* Dolphins
* Port infrastructure
* Strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM regulations
* Experience with wave modelling / overtopping tools
* Background in the water sector is essential.
* Experience in sectors such as energy or defence is advantageous.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work independently and solve complex engineering challenges.
