Head of Year (September 2026)

What skills and experience we’re looking for

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, inclusive and enthusiastic leader to join us as Head of Year from September 2026. The successful candidate will be a committed and experienced teacher who is passionate about pastoral leadership and student success.

As Head of Year, you will be supportive, encouraging and highly visible, promoting positive behaviour, strong attendance and high academic achievement across the year group. You will take a leading role in championing your year group, inspiring students to achieve their full potential and fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.

The role includes line management of the Pastoral Manager, requiring excellent organisational and communication skills. You will lead and motivate the pastoral team effectively, ensuring consistent, inclusive and high-quality pastoral support. Building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers will be central to the role, and you will work in close partnership with our parental community to support student progress and wellbeing.

An effective Head of Year will use data intelligently and strategically to identify trends, address barriers to learning including attendance and implement targeted interventions that drive improvement. You will build on established systems and strategies while also bringing fresh ideas and innovation to enhance pastoral provision and outcomes for all students.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional ready to lead a team, influence whole-school culture and make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.
