To ensure the continued delivery of high-quality oncological care to patients within the trust and to contribute to the further development of the service.
Position
The appointee will be Lead Medical Oncology Consultant for Breast & Hepatico‑Pancreatico‑Biliary Cancers.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and enhance the multidisciplinary management of patients with breast and hepatico‑pancreatico‑biliary cancers.
* Increase entry of patients into clinical trials and expand the service as required to meet patient needs.
* Contribute to the ongoing service improvement programme by developing:
o Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
o Cost Improvement Programme (CIP)
o Implement evidence‑based new ways of working when necessary
* Encourage application for fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.
Organisational context
We are working on a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to build a new state‑of‑the‑art hospital due to open in 2031/32 and are carrying out one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken. Our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) will replace paper‑based records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined‑up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
