A specialist school in Gateshead is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 7–14 with moderate learning difficulties, autism and speech and language needs.

The Role
You will work alongside experienced teachers supporting pupils during lessons and helping them remain engaged in learning activities.
Responsibilities may include:
• Supporting pupils with literacy and numeracy activities
• Working with small groups who require additional support
• Encouraging pupils to develop independence and confidence
• Supporting pupils with communication systems
• Assisting with behaviour support strategies

Experience Requirements
Previous SEN experience is helpful but not essential.
The school welcomes candidates who may be new to specialist education, and roles may begin on a trainee teaching assistant scale where appropriate.
