Job Description:
Pertemps Recruitment is currently hiring for an Associate Principal Engineer for a client based in Clevedon, BS21.
In this key role, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver top-tier mechanical engineering solutions for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Your focus will be on managing projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
You will collaborate with various teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant solutions.
Key Details
* Monday-Friday role
* £50,000-£60,000 PA based on experience
* Based in Clevedon, BS21
Main Responsibilities
* Lead and Mentor Engineers: Manage and motivate a team of approximately 6 mechanical engineers, ensuring cohesive teamwork and achievement of project milestones.
* Project Ownership: Guide projects from concept through to customer commissioning, meeting time, cost, quality, and specification requirements.
* Best Practices Leadership: Promote adoption of best mechanical engineering practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.
* Work Package Management: Design and assign work packages across teams, ensuring successful project completion.
* Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work complies with industry standards, regulations, and product requirements.
* Subject Matter Expertise & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers for their professional growth.
Skills, Knowledge, and ExperienceQualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (essential);
* Master’s Degree or equivalent experience (desirable);
* Chartered Engineer or working towards registration (desirable);
* Functional Safety qualifications (desirable).
Experience
* Extensive experience in mechanical engineering and design (essential);
* Experience in a regulated industry like semiconductor manufacturing (desirable);
* Experience in full product development lifecycle (essential);
* Knowledge of design-for-X principles (essential);
* Knowledge of safety review methods like PHA, HAZOP, FMEA, and standards like SEMI S2 (desirable);
* Experience in semiconductor or similar industry (desirable).
Skills
* Strong technical expertise in mechanical design (essential);
* Leadership and team management skills; ability to mentor engineers.
* Project management skills ensuring compliance and stakeholder communication.
* Problem-solving skills with an analytical approach.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to review engineering drawings to BS8888 and P&ID (essential);
* Willingness to travel occasionally, domestically and internationally (desirable).
