POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director, Asset Management Systems is an important role within the Strategic Infrastructure and Sustainability team. The team works flexibly from 220 London Circuit, Canberra City; the Hedley Beare Centre for Teaching and Learning, Stirling; from home and at schools according to operational requirements.

Applicants require extensive experience in building facilities, asset management and construction, particularly in relation to strategic and operational asset assessment, evaluation and planning; a proven ability to use complex software systems, including asset management software; strong attention to detail; high level oral and written communication skills; and demonstrated well developed stakeholder management, negotiation, and liaison skills.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In accordance with Directorate policies, the Assistant Director, Asset Management Systems will:

* Manage the team responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of the EDU asset management software system (AMSS).
* Develop and manage quality assurance processes and activities for all existing, new and updated data in the AMSS.
* Develop, implement and manage templates, processes, reports and tools to support asset and building activities such as condition assessments, asset planning and the production and ingestion of data into, and from the AMSS.
* Provide technical support/user training or guidance to internal AMSS users.
* Represent the Directorate in meetings, negotiations and discussions with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, interest groups and other agencies related to the management of asset information.
* Be responsible for the development and management of policies, procedures, guidelines and user awareness material related to the EDU AMSS.
* Manage and co-ordinate the engagement of consultants and contractors to undertake work to develop and maintain the EDU AMSS and associated policies and procedures.
* Undertake and manage the production and publication of asset management data, plans and reports from the asset management system for corporate reporting and stakeholders.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

The following capabilities form the criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Professional and Technical Skills, and Knowledge

* Knowledge and understanding of facilities management and the development of strategic and operational asset strategies in accordance with ISO 55000.
* Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in the use of asset management software systems to assist in the development and maintaining of buildings and assets, supporting capital works, production of maintenance plans, asset reporting, condition assessments, lifecycle planning, etc.
* Well-developed communication, negotiation and representational skills including:
* Ability to write with influence; and
* Ability to manage and provide timely advice to internal and external stakeholders.
* Administrative and management skills of a high order including the ability to:
o Manage staff, contractors and consultants;
o Develop policies and procedures related to asset management; and
o Provide advice to other sections of the Directorate relating to asset management information.
* Ability to balance priorities, meet deadlines and to achieve positive results in a challenging environment.
* Ability to apply equity and diversity, workplace health and safety, customer service and participative management principles and practices in the workplace.

Mandatory

* Hold a relevant professional qualification in Engineering, Architecture or Project Management or accreditation with a professional body recognised within Australia; or

*

* Hold a relevant building degree; or
* Have significant building and/or infrastructure management knowledge and/or operational strategic asset management experience.
* Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to:Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
* Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under theWorking with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to -Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
* A current Driver’s Licence with the ability to drive.

Note: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
