Overview
We're looking for an experienced, senior-level HGV Technician to step into a Shift Supervisor role. This is a permanent position where you'll split your time between hands-on technical work—diagnostics, air brakes, powertrain, MOT prep—and leading a team, mentoring fitters, and managing workshop workflow. With minimum guaranteed earnings of over £49,300 even if bought in on the lower salary range, this is a clear career progression opportunity for a technician ready to take the next step.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspections, diagnostics, and complex repairs to DVSA standards.
Prepare and present vehicles for MOT; support the tacho bay compliance function.
Lead and mentor a team of HGV Technicians, supporting their development.
Plan and allocate daily workload, ensuring workshop efficiency and quality standards.
Uphold health, safety, and compliance across all workshop activities.
What You'll Need
Proven experience as a senior-level HGV Technician in a commercial workshop.
A recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI).
Strong technical knowledge of air brakes, powertrain, diagnostics, and MOT preparation.
Leadership experience or relevant supervisory training is highly advantageous.
A Class 1 (C+E) licence is preferred; tacho card knowledge is advantageous due to an on-site tacho bay.
Full UK driving licence.
