Oxford City Council is an ambitious and successful Local Authority which also has a number of wholly owned companies. These companies have been created to undertake delivery of Housing needs within the city and also delivery of the functions carried out by our Oxford Direct Services Limited, such as housing repairs, street cleansing, highways and engineering and waste and recycling. The team's work spans across the finances of the Council and also the companies.
The Financial Accounting Team has a varied range of responsibilities, and these will ensure this role will be an exciting challenge for the successful candidate. This role is integral to ensuring that the varied work of the team can be delivered successfully and on time. The role plays an essential part in the financial accounting team being responsible for producing technical working papers and dealing with complex audit queries and working with the rest of the Financial Accounting Team to achieve team objectives.
We are looking for an experienced professional to join our busy Financial Accounting team. The successful candidate will be AAT qualified or a part qualified CCAB accountant wanting to further their experience and obtain a full accounting qualification. The postholder will have significant input into the creation of the Council's statement of accounts and a number of technical year end calculations requiring a high level of knowledge of accounting standards, legislation and Council systems.
The successful individual will be highly motivated, organised and methodical with a 'can do' and positive attitude. You will need to be highly numerate and have an inquisitive mind to undertake this position and not be afraid to provide challenge. If you have a passion about delivering excellent results and want to contribute to making Oxford an even better city for everyone, we want to hear from you.
