Fire Health Partnership Technician – Falls Response
A substantive opportunity has become available for a Fire Health Partnership Technician – Falls Response, based at Lichfield Community Fire Station.
This role supports the effective delivery of the SFRS Falls Response Service by attending non‑urgent ICCC‑triaged calls, assisting patients who have fallen through the safe use of manual‑handling equipment and carrying out Home Fire Safety Visits that incorporate falls‑prevention advice. The role also supports the resilience of the Home from Hospital Team which transports discharged patients home, helping them to settle in safely and providing tailored fire-prevention advice and guidance.
Salary: Grade 6 - 31,537 – 34,434 plus shift allowance
Duration: Substantive
Location: Lichfield Fire Station
Hours: Shift between 0800 – 1900. There is a requirement to work overtime if engaged in a falls call or hospital discharge at the end of shift
Respond to non-urgent calls that will have been triaged by the Integrated Care Coordination Centre (ICCC). Responsible for attending to patients who have fallen and are unable to get themselves off the floor with the use of manual handling equipment
The post holder will be an integral part of the team and deliver all aspects of the role.
Duties Include: (see full job description attached)
1. Respond to ICC calls, assisting patients who have fallen by safely carrying out manual handling and using appropriate lifting equipment.
2. Work collaboratively with colleagues, using available equipment to ensure the safe movement and support of patients, whilst also providing resilience and operational assistance to the Home from Hospital Team based at Newcastle Community Fire Station.
3. Carry out Home Fire Safety Visits whilst maintaining accurate records, completing data entry on Service systems in accordance with data protection and security requirements.
4. Adapt to changing demands, remaining flexible and undertaking necessary training to maintain skills and role competence.
5. Provide high‑quality patient interaction, demonstrating professionalism, dignity, respect, clear communication, confidentiality and commitment to Equality & Diversity.
6. Drive and maintain SFRS vehicles, ensuring they are clean, correctly stocked, refuelled and fit for purpose.
7. Carry out any other duties, commensurate with the grade, as required by the Head of Prevent, Protect and Partnerships.
Person Specification:
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
8. Experience of working alone efficiently and using initiative in order to meet demands
9. Always be smart in appearance and courteous to convey a high level of confidence to the public.
10. Full Driving License (due to insurance restrictions applicants should be over 25 and have less than 6 penalty points)
Desirable
11. Experience of working with or fitting specialist equipment, such as Manger Camel/Elk lifting device or Raizer chair; including patient handling techniques
12. Experience of working with vulnerable groups
13. First Response Emergency Care 3 Qualification
Health and Safety and Information Security:
14. Ensure accordance with the Services Health and Safety and Manual Handling policies are adhered to.
15. Support the department to ensure that Health and Safety requirements are being complied with in accordance with Service Policy.
16. Ensure all data is maintained in accordance with Service Policy and the Data Protection Act 2018 (GDPR), Freedom of Information and any current legislation.
