Senior Legal Counsel - Business Banking - Bristol

A leading values-driven bank is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its in-house Legal team, supporting the Business Banking division. This is a great opportunity for an experienced banking and finance lawyer to take ownership of commercial lending documentation and play a key role in supporting ethical, sustainable finance.
The Role
You'll act as the principal legal contact for Business Banking, managing and advising on the full range of loan documentation from facility and security agreements to ancillary contracts. The role combines hands-on drafting and negotiation with strategic input to ensure all lending activities meet legal, regulatory and policy requirements.
Key responsibilities
* Leading the documentation process for bespoke commercial lending transactions.
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating facility, security and ancillary documentation.
* Managing relationships with panel solicitors, borrowers and other external advisers.
* Liaising with internal teams including Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Lending Operations and Compliance.
* Reviewing reports on title, valuation and monitoring, and advising on key risks.
* Acting as contract manager for the Bank's solicitor panel, overseeing performance.
* Advising senior stakeholders on legal, structural and policy issues.
* Maintaining and improving documentation templates, policies and governance processes.
About You
* UK-qualified solicitor with 6+ years' PQE in banking and finance law.
* Proven track record in documenting and completing commercial lending transactions.
* Strong grasp of LMA-style documentation and secured lending structures.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Able to work autonomously and manage multiple matters to tight deadlines.
* Detail-oriented, pragmatic and collaborative, with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
* Experience in structured or project finance and/or process improvement would be advantageous.
