We’re seeking an organised and proactive Transport Supervisor (Training) to support our expanding Transport Services team within the council. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced operational environment and understands the critical importance of safety, compliance, and continuous staff development in public‑sector transport. You will play a key role in ensuring our drivers and operational staff receive the training, guidance, and support they need to deliver safe, reliable, and high‑quality transport services for our day centres and wider community. This includes supporting teams who work directly with vulnerable people, ensuring that all training reflects safeguarding responsibilities, passenger care standards, and the diverse needs of service users.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage day‑to‑day transport operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and holding supervisors and staff accountable for the consistent delivery of a safe, efficient service
* The role coordinates and monitors mandatory training for drivers and operational staff, maintains accurate training and compliance records, and supports onboarding to ensure all training requirements are met.
* Ensure all training activities align with transport regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
* Step in to cover operational gaps in service, ensuring continuity, safety, and compliance during staff shortages or increased demand
* Contribute to people and project management by coordinating plans and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in transport or a similar operational environment (desirable)
* Strong administrative and organisational skills
* Excellent communication and coordination abilities
* Confidence using digital systems, spreadsheets, and training platforms
* A strong and practical understanding of compliance requirements within the transport industry, including driver regulations, section‑specific operational standards, and all relevant health & safety obligations. This includes awareness of legal responsibilities, industry best practice, and the ability to ensure that training activities support full compliance across the organisation
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
* A proactive, solutions‑focused approach
