Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated BANK Support Worker to provide high-quality care and assistance to children with diverse needs in Huddersfield.
This is a bank role intended for practitioners who already have significant experience working in children's residential care. Due to the complex needs of the young people we support, this position is not suitable for candidates new to residential childcare, as comprehensive training cannot be provided during bank hours.
Our services provide long-term, stable residential care for children and young people aged 7–17, including those with:
* Autism Spectrum Conditions
* Moderate to severe learning difficulties
* Global developmental delay
* Sensory impairment
* ADHD
* Specific speech, language, and communication needs
Responsibilities
* Assist children with daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational pursuits.
* Implement and follow individualised care plans tailored to each child's specific needs.
* Support children's emotional well-being by providing encouragement, reassurance, and companionship.
* Facilitate communication between children, families, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
* Drive children safely to appointments, activities, or outings as required.
* Maintain accurate records of care provided, behavioural observations, and progress notes.
* Promote a safe and inclusive environment that encourages learning and development.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop strategies that support behavioural management and developmental goals.
This role requires proven experience. Applicants must:
* Have significant prior experience working in a children's residential care setting
* Be confident working independently and integrating quickly into established teams
* Have a strong understanding of safeguarding, boundaries, and professional practice
* Hold the Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship cannot be offered)
* Hold a full manual UK driving licence
* Be aged 25 or over (insurance requirements)
* Have held a driving licence for at least 2 years
* Have 6 points or fewer on their licence
* Successfully complete enhanced DBS and reference checks
