Curriculum Area Lead – Engagement and Progression
North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College is launching an exciting new Engagement and Progression Provision at our Wigston Campus. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new provision from day one and to lead a team that helps young people build routine, confidence and readiness for sustained education, training and employment. The role is not a standard curriculum leadership position; it requires establishing culture, standards, systems and pace from the outset, leading a trauma‑informed, high‑support provision, line‑managing a new team, coordinating cross‑college delivery and ensuring learners experience a calm, consistent and credible progression route into mainstream study programmes and other sustained destinations. The position is fixed‑term until July 2027, with potential for continuation thereafter.
What We Are Looking For
* A strong and credible leader who can establish and lead a new provision while maintaining high standards from the outset.
* A calm and strategic practitioner who understands how to build a safe, predictable and high‑expectation culture for learners with barriers to engagement.
* A highly organised operator confident in managing performance, systems, reporting, staffing, timetabling and partner relationships.
* A collaborative leader who works across the College to secure vocational access and specialist English and maths delivery as part of a coherent progression model.
Responsibilities For The Role
* Provide operational leadership for the Engagement and Progression Provision, ensuring successful delivery of both pathways and a high‑quality learner experience.
* Line‑manage the Engagement and Progression team, including performance management, support and development.
* Lead curriculum, quality assurance and performance monitoring across the provision.
* Oversee referrals, onboarding, tracking systems, attendance follow‑up and reporting.
* Coordinate cross‑college delivery, including vocational tasters and the staged introduction of specialist English and maths.
* Ensure learners are well supported to progress into mainstream study programmes and other sustained destinations.
Location
The role is based at our Wigston Campus.
Benefits
* Pay range: Grade J, points 37–40 (£42 824 – £46 793).
* Annual leave of 35 days, plus bank holidays and up to 5 additional closure days.
* Access to Teachers’ Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme, as applicable.
* Great staff development opportunities.
* Family‑friendly policies and procedures.
