Offer description

Are you someone who believes that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and successful in school? Do you have the patience, empathy, and determination to help children with additional needs overcome barriers and thrive?

We are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our brand-new Specialist Satellite Provision supporting Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new, nurturing setting that puts relationships, inclusion, and wellbeing at the heart of learning.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Teaching Assistant in our new provision, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, helping them access learning and develop key life skills.

Use trauma-informed and nurturing approaches to help children regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop positive relationships.

Support teaching and learning by adapting tasks, scaffolding understanding, and celebrating every step of progress.

Promote emotional literacy and resilience through consistent routines, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.

Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENDCo, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure each pupil receives the right support.

Champion safeguarding and wellbeing, always putting the needs and safety of pupils first.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are:

Passionate about inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs

Calm, patient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships

Resilient and positive, even on challenging days

Skilled at working as part of a team and following structured support plans

Committed to helping every child achieve their potential

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs (in mainstream, alternative, or specialist settings)

Understanding of trauma-informed, restorative, or nurture-based approaches

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to de-escalate challenging situations using calm, positive strategies

Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Desirable (but not essential)

Qualifications in Teaching and Learning Support, Childcare, Youth Work, or Mental Health

Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or other de-escalation techniques

Experience supporting children with EHCPs or individual behaviour plans

This Role is Perfect If You:

Have worked as a TA, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, or Pastoral Support Assistant

Want to help shape a new, caring, and inclusive provision from the start

Believe that with the right support, every child can succeed

Find reward in seeing small steps turn into big breakthroughs

What We Offer

A chance to be part of a brand-new, specialist provision with a strong, child-centred ethos

Ongoing CPD and training in areas such as SEMH support, trauma-informed practice, and communication development

A supportive team environment where your contribution is valued and your development is encouraged

The opportunity to make a genuine difference in children's lives every single day

Ready to Help Build Something Special?

If you're ready to bring your compassion, creativity, and resilience to a setting where every child matters, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply: Send your CV and a brief cover letter (max 2 A4 pages) explaining your relevant experience and why you'd be a great fit.
