Overview
Data/AI Engineer — Role Purpose: This role focuses on designing and developing a robust, cloud-based data platform using Microsoft technologies to facilitate advanced analytics and AI initiatives. You will enable our AI strategy and this role is a growth opportunity for an experienced data engineer to work on the latest AI tech including Gen-AI (and RAG), Machine Learning and Agentic AI.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain a hybrid data platform using Microsoft technologies (e.g. Fabric, Azure, Databricks) and SQL Server.
* Identify and implement opportunities for systems and process integration.
* Implement medallion architecture to support scalable and maintainable dataflows.
* Develop intelligent agents and automated workflows that integrate with business systems using tools such as Microsoft Foundry.
* Develop and deploy knowledge-based AI systems.
* Develop and deploy machine learning pipelines using Azure ML Studio.
* Deliver AI-powered solutions using low-code platforms such as Power Platform and Copilot Studio.
* Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather and translate requirements between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Ensure data quality, governance and security standards are upheld throughout the platform.
* Ensure responsible AI practices are embedded in all solutions, including fairness, transparency and data privacy.
* Identify opportunities to use data and AI in innovative and transformational ways at Brabners.
* Contribute to the organisation’s AI maturity through experimentation, iteration and knowledge sharing.
* Show passion for Data and AI and take pride in delivering robust, secure and scalable solutions that position Brabners as a leader in innovation.
* Be serious about data and AI governance and build the right solutions at the right time by working with the Head of AI to ensure development is strategically aligned to becoming an AI Enabled law firm.
* Support the development and upskilling of colleagues; share learnings and support colleagues in adopting and understanding AI tools.
* Proficiency or desire to progress into building and operationalising a range of AI systems including ML models and RAG.
* Ability to think of the big picture when developing scalable solutions.
* Provide direction and guidance to colleagues to support the upskilling of the wider data team; foster a collaborative mindset with cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
* Take a first principles approach and translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
* Strong commercial acumen and experience working with a range of data architecture platform tooling including Azure and SQL Server.
* Experience applying medallion architecture principles in real-world projects.
* Experience working with on-premises and cloud data, and with a range of systems, APIs and gateways.
* Experience or desire to develop AI solutions.
* Strong SQL and Python skills.
* Familiarity with low-code platforms (e.g. Power Platform, Copilot Studio).
* Familiarity with AI services such as Microsoft Foundry, OpenAI APIs and agent workflows.
* Experience in deploying and monitoring AI solutions in a business environment.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
