Nursing assistant with NVQ3 and medication training

As a Nursing Assistant you will be expected to participateas a member of the Care Team to plan, lead, monitor and deliver high qualitycare to residents in line with their individual care plans, under thesupervision and guidance of the Home Manager. You will be assisting residentswith their daily activities and identifying and assisting them with theirindividual needs and preferences. You will be expected to communicateeffectively, promote privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individualrights and also participate in protecting our vulnerable residents from anyharm or abuse.
You will work alongside the Registered Nurse to ensure thatResident's health and wellbeing needs, within the Nursing Assistantlimitations.
You will need to hold a NVQ/ Diploma Level 3 in Healthand Social Care alongside completion of the Nursing Assistant program.
About location:
Situated a short way from the Birmingham city centre, this CareCentre has a capacity for 116 residents. Our NVQ qualified nurses and carersprovide care for those in need of specialist care, including dementia, strokeand Alzheimer’s suffers as well as elderly care and end of life care.
* ü Pay: Up to £13.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care: Nurse assistants help residents withactivities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, andtoileting. They ensure that residents maintain their hygiene and dignity whilepromoting independence whenever possible.
Mobility Assistance: They assist residents withmobility, helping them move around the facility, transferring them between bedsand chairs, and ensuring they can navigate their environment safely.
Monitoring Vital Signs : Nurse assistants are responsible for measuring and recording vital signs such as temperature, bloodpressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. They monitor changes in residents'health and report any concerns to nursing staff.
Feeding and Nutrition: They assist residents witheating and drinking, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and hydrationaccording to their dietary needs. This may include helping with feeding tubesor specialized diets as directed by healthcare professionals.
Emotional Support: Nurse assistants provide emotionalsupport to residents and their families, helping to create a comforting andsupportive environment.
Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety: They play a vitalrole in keeping patient rooms and common areas clean and organized, changingbed linens, and following infection control protocols to prevent the spread ofinfections.
Communication: Nurse assistants often serve as theprimary contact for residents, communicating their needs and concerns to thenursing staff and ensuring that care plans are followed.
Skills Required
Compassion and Patience: Working with elderly ordisabled residents requires a caring attitude and the ability to remain patientin challenging situations.
Physical Strength: Nurse assistants need to have thephysical ability to lift and move patients safely.
Attention to Detail: They must be observant to detectchanges in residents' conditions and report them promptly.
Teamwork and Communication:
Qualifications /requirements:
* ü NVQ3 in Health and Social care
* ü Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimerscare,Schizophrenia care, memory care, and hospice support is highly desirable
* ü Familiarity with patient observation techniques,medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
* ü Experience in a similar role in the UK isdesirable
* ü Flexibility in working hours and the ability toadapt to different healthcare settings.
* ü Right to work in the UK for at least 12-monthwithout need of sponsorship
* ü Caring and compassionate
* ü Ability to follow care plans effectively,
* ü Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
