Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist

This role provides high-quality clinical care and support to patients within the Inpatient Pain Management Service. Working closely with the Specialist Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, the post-holder will contribute to the delivery and development of specialist nursing interventions that enhance patient comfort, safety, and outcomes.
The role also acts as a key resource for the multidisciplinary team, offering clinical guidance, support, and expertise to ensure consistent, evidence-based pain management across the service.
Main duties of the job
* Clinical: Manage a defined caseload of patients with support from the Band 7 CNS, providing specialist advice and clinical expertise to patients, families, and staff. Undertake comprehensive assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions. Coordinate patient care pathways to optimise outcomes under senior supervision.
* Leadership: Contribute to the education and development of staff within the clinical area and participate in service reviews and audit activities.
* Education: Provide formal and informal teaching to the multidisciplinary team and students. Maintain personal professional development in accordance with NMC standards.
* Research & Quality: Support local audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring clinical practice reflects current evidence and national guidance.

Qualifications
* Current NMC PIN Number
* Teaching and Mentoring course/experience
Knowledge and experience
* Post-registration experience minimum of 2 years
* Experience with pain management devices used in post-operative surgery
* Skills in interdisciplinary working, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
* Presenting skills, willing to teach groups of staff in formal situations
Personal and development
* Able to work on own initiative being adaptable to changing situations
* Prioritisation skills, time management and ability to work in small team.
Physical requirements
* General good health for the demands of the post
