We're currently working with a leading Legal 500 firm based in Oxford that's seeking an exceptional Employment Partner. This is a standout opportunity for a senior employment law specialist looking to take their career to the next level within a firm known for its excellence, innovation, and supportive culture. This role involves building up a practice, making it ideal for those who want to establish and grow their own client base.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Advise clients on the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies, TUPE, and employment tribunal claims.
2. Provide strategic advice to corporate clients, HR teams, and senior executives on complex employment issues, risk management, and compliance.
3. Lead and manage high-value and high-profile employment litigation, including tribunal and High Court claims.
4. Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and trainees, supporting their technical development and progression within the team.
5. Develop and grow the employment practice through business development initiatives, networking, and maintaining strong client relationships.
6. Work collaboratively with corporate, commercial, and regulatory teams on transactions, due diligence, and cross-practice matters.
7. Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and departmental leadership within the wider firm.
8. Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and professional forums, enhancing the firm's profile in employment law.
9. Monitor legal developments, ensuring clients and the team stay up to date with changing legislation and best practices.
10. Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and client-focused service within the employment team.
The successful candidate:
1. Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 8+ years PQE in employment law.
2. Extensive experience advising employers and/or senior executives on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
3. Strong track record of handling complex issues such as dismissals, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, restructures, and tribunal litigation.
4. Demonstrable success in business development, client relationship management, and practice growth.
5. Prior experience at Partner level or as a Senior Associate/Legal Director ready to step up.
6. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring junior lawyers.
7. Commercially astute, with the ability to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice.
8. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
9. A commitment to maintaining high professional standards and staying up to date with legal developments.
