About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Package Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team at our Old Oak Common development in London. Join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2's new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK's best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the station will feature six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. It will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, along with direct services to three major airports. The station will include passenger and retail facilities, offering an exceptional experience for passengers and visitors.
What you'll be doing
1. Ensuring the safe, healthy, and environmentally sound delivery of all entrusted works.
2. Managing the package daily, leading a team of two APMs.
3. Collaborating with the package design management team and subcontractors to deliver the design portion of the works.
4. Working with the package QS to issue communications to manage the contract.
5. Managing the package of works, tracking subcontractors' deliverables.
6. Managing Activity Readiness certification.
7. Handling documentation through approval processes and liaising with the wider BBVS team.
8. Reviewing subcontractors' performance and proposing improvements.
9. Liaising with subcontractors to resolve escalated clashes in day-to-day management.
10. Ensuring progress of entrusted works is accurately reported and documented.
11. Monitoring and reporting on the activity levels of subcontractor operatives and plant on site.
Who we're looking for
* Qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent (BSc, MSc, or BEng).
* CSCS certification.
* Experience in a related environment is preferred.
* Understanding of contracts and notifiable events (NEC3).
* Experience with large infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge of Works Information and procurement processes.
* Experience managing site activities and monitoring subcontractor performance.
