Job Title: Principal Safety & Environmental Engineer
Location: Barrow-In-Furness, Portsmouth, BroadOak, Frimley, Weymouth, Plymouth, or Bristol
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Support the derivation and management of Product Safety requirements based on hazard and risk identification.
2. Work in accordance with Project Safety Management Plans.
3. Influence the development of a safe design, including the Project Safety Case, technical safety arguments, and justification reports.
4. Support hazard identification meetings and maintain the project hazard log.
5. Complete peer reviews, checks, verification, and assurance tasks to ensure the Safety Case's robustness.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Understanding of engineering safety management processes, hazard analysis, safety arguments, and safety case reports.
2. Knowledge of safety within systems engineering, including requirements establishment and delivery.
3. Understanding of ALARP principles and their application.
4. Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS and Enterprise Architect.
5. Experience working in defense or complex systems environments involving software products.

The SSNA Combat System Team:
As a Principal Engineer, you will support the Engineering Delivery Manager in developing and maintaining the Project Product Safety Management System and Safety Case, ensuring product safety and legality. You will join a team of about 50 engineers, working collaboratively from the early stages of major development programs, with opportunities for career development and relocation support.
