We have an exciting opportunity to recruit 6 month fixed term Band 7 Clinical Psychologist /Specialist MH Practitioner WTE to ensure an evidence based and trauma informed psychological service to a diverse population of CYP across Wigan
You will be part of Wigans ATOM service, which supports children with psychological formulation and intervention who are:
on a trajectory of becoming looked after
returning home to family
in fostering placements where they are likely to breakdown without intervention
in residential homes and can be supported to return to family-based care.
You will be based and work within our Residential/outreach and Edge of care services
You will also join a growing team of community and specialist CAMHS practitioners and Clinical Psychologists within GMMH.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner that is passionate about working with and improving services for children and adolescents experiencing adversity and insecurity in their environments, and who can support a team or individuals to follow your developed formulation, offer regular consultation and deliver training.
The role includes working directly with children, young people and their families, as part of a wider trauma informed and trusted relationships approach through DDP and other attachment focused interventions.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist psychological and systemic assessment, formulation, deliver tailored interventions for children, young people, and their families using therapeutic modalities
The role includes consultation, supervision, and leadership responsibilities, contributing to service development and multi-agency collaboration.
Act as a specialist resource to external partners, offering expert consultation and advice.
Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children, families, carers, and professionals
Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and manage risks involving self-harm, harm to others, or vulnerability to abuse.
Participate in MDT meetings, contributing to shared understanding and care planning
Support capacity-building through training, reflective practice, and joint working.
Hold an independent caseload of children and young people with complex psychological needs. Monitor progress and adapt therapeutic approaches as necessary.
Contribute to development, embedding trauma-informed and systemic approaches.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and psychological safety.
Foster partnerships across health, education, social care, and voluntary sectors.
