Overview
We are seeking an ambitious, passionate and detail-oriented Head Chef who is looking to create their own footprint, within our new independently owned business. We would like a team player to work closely with us and our senior management team to develop our strategies and menus, and build and lead our kitchen team.
The venue, in the heart of Ongar High Street, was built in 1679 and has a large contemporary glass extension accommodating our 84 cover restaurant and bar. We also have outdoor seating for a further 200 on our outside terrace and garden, plus a private dining/event area. Our kitchen features a wood fired pizza oven and wood/coal Josper grill alongside the regular kitchen equipment.
As an independent, we have complete flexibility and autonomy. Our ideal candidate will not only be skilled and determined, they'll want to run the kitchen like it's their own... writing and costing menus and specials, training and developing the team, and ensuring the kitchen remains pristine.
Live in is available, base salary is £40-45k, plus a fair share of card tips and service charge. Everything is negotiable for the right person.
