Waking Night Worker
Join a Specialist Therapeutic Team – Support Children in Residential Care
Are you a reliable, compassionate individual looking to make a meaningful impact? We are currently recruiting for a Waking Night Worker (with the potential to progress to Waking Night Therapeutic Carer) to join a professional, therapeutic residential team.
In this role, you will be the cornerstone of safety and stability overnight. You will ensure that children in the home feel secure, nurtured, and supported throughout the night, contributing to a therapeutic environment that helps them heal and grow.
The Role
Working in a residential setting, you will remain awake throughout the night to provide safety and support. You will be responsible for ensuring the home environment is maintained, individual care needs are met, and any emotional or physical distress is managed with a calm, professional approach. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional development, as you will be supported to gain the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified Therapeutic Carer.
Key Responsibilities
* Safety & Security: Conduct regular security checks, monitor the environment to ensure it is secure, and act as the primary point of contact for safety throughout the night.
* Nurturing Support: Provide a warm, homely, and consistent presence. If a child wakes up or is in emotional distress, you will offer comfort and support, helping them settle back into their routine.
* Domestic & Household Duties: Assist with essential household maintenance, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining an organized, welcoming environment.
* Clinical & Administrative: Administer prescribed medications, maintain meticulous case records using the client’s digital management systems, and report relevant observations to the senior team.
* Therapeutic Collaboration: Participate in team meetings and training, contributing to the wider therapeutic culture and working collaboratively with the Registered Manager and the multidisciplinary team.
What We Are Looking For
* A Therapeutic Mindset: You possess an understanding of, or a willingness to learn, how to support children through "corrective emotional experiences." You should be able to remain calm, reflective, and non-defensive when under pressure.
* Reliability & Integrity: You are a professional who works with honesty, openness, and a total commitment to safeguarding and protecting the children in your care.
* Strong Observational Skills: You can observe both yourself and others within the team, waiting and thinking before acting, and learning from direct experience.
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for accurate record-keeping and team collaboration.
* Commitment to Development: You are eager to engage in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development to improve your practice.
Why Apply?
* Specialist Training: You will receive comprehensive training and mentoring to grow your professional capabilities.
* Supportive Culture: Join a team that prioritizes supervision, collaboration, and mutual support.
* Meaningful Work: Become part of an organization dedicated to providing consistent, high-quality care to vulnerable children.
Requirements
* This role requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as we are committed to the highest standards of safeguarding.
* Flexibility to work across different home locations within the organisation may be required.
