Waltham Forest | Locum | Up to £39.04 per hour | Hybrid Working
Waltham Forest Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team, with potential for appointment at Senior Social Worker level depending on experience. This is a frontline role focused on protecting children and supporting families through effective statutory interventions and relationship-based practice.
You will manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases, working closely with families and partner agencies to ensure children are safeguarded and supported to achieve positive outcomes.
In this role, you will:
Manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases
Undertake comprehensive assessments and risk analysis
Develop and review Child in Need and Child Protection plans
Lead and participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings
Work directly with children and families to promote positive change
Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
Contribute to permanency planning where required
Support and mentor less experienced social workers (Senior level)
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Strong experience within safeguarding teams (CIN/CP)
Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
