An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oncology & Haematology Department based at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. We are looking to appoint a Support Coordinator to support the provision of high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.
The post is Band 3, 30 hours per week - days and times are negotiable.
The post holder will receive full training and ongoing support to achieve their full potential. They will serve as a point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues related to patients' care pathways, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and discharge.
The post holder will provide a patient-focused service that supports the Oncology & Haematology Coordinator and clinical staff in delivering efficient, integrated pathways.
Main duties of the job
1. Demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills, use own initiative, and show problem-solving skills.
2. Maintain excellent attention to detail and a passion for patient care.
3. Work closely with NHS colleagues, patients, and the public within this service.
4. Manage waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and achieve government waiting time standards.
5. Responsible for adding and removing patients from waiting lists and recording relevant patient information upon request from clinicians, patients, or management.
6. Monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) daily to ensure government access standards are met, escalate potential breaches, and resolve capacity issues, escalating to the Assistant Operations Manager as needed.
7. Manage waiting lists for patients on cancer pathways requiring Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, or further surveillance appointments.
