Overview
USU Aviation Technology is seeking a candidate for a position that focuses upon Airfield Management in Price, Utah. This position requires an individual who will oversee all aspects of managing the operations of the Carbon County Airfield, including coordination with Carbon County officials (FAA Airport Manager), the Federal Aviation Administration, airport maintenance personnel, dispatching, using airfield landing and navigational aids, implementing airfield safety procedures, inspections, bird monitoring, maintaining records, and applying knowledge of weather information to safely and efficiently manage airfield operations. In addition, this position will assist with managing the Fixed Base Operations (FBO) with other team members at the Carbon County Airport.
This is a 12-month, full-time, benefited position available immediately. The successful candidate for the position below will demonstrate experience in some aspects of airfield operations, and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues, within and across departments, the local county officials, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and will contribute to program development, assessment and growth in the department.
Responsibilities
Utah State University is seeking a candidate who has experience in the aviation industry with success in working at a General Aviation (GA) airport. Successful candidates will be able to work with the FAA, state and county officials, the university, industry and college students.
Additional duties may include teaching assigned course topics within the Aviation Technology Department which may include, but are not limited to: Airport Management, Aviation Meteorology, Crew Resource Management, graduate, and other aviation courses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be the primary safety manager for the airport
2. Ensure compliance with all regulations
3. Manage day-to-day operations of airport
4. Support transient aircraft operations
5. Issue NOTAMS and other notices about the airport
This is a full-time position, and may include the following:
6. Oversee the daily activities at airport
7. Ensure all required regulations are followed
8. Monitor and implement safety and security of airfield
9. Liaison for Carbon County with industry, airline officials as well as the public
10. Manage FBO operations for Carbon County Airport
11. Oversee aviation refueling operations
12. Operational knowledge of required equipment related to airfield operations
13. Business operations at the Carbon County Airfield require Monday – Saturday schedule availability, with specific scheduling coordinated by the on-site USU Aviation team.
Other activities may include depending upon credentials and abilities:
14. Teach 1-2 courses per semester in Aviation Technology
15. Assist with career student advising and student club activities
16. Assist in student recruitment and retention, alumni and industry relations, program marketing/public relations, and other program needs
17. Service to include committee work in support of departmental, college, university, and professional society activities
18. Work with the extension activities of the Aggie Drone Academy
19. Supervise line operators as part of the FBO operations
20. Manage hangar usage, tiedowns, ramp allocation and transient aircraft
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
21. Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business administration, or related field
22. Three (3) years of aviation management/operations experience and knowledge of FAA regulations
23. Excellent oral and written communication skills
24. Excellent computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
25. Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program or similar
26. Master’s Degree in a related field
27. Safety Management System experience
28. Airport Security experience
29. Post-secondary teaching experience
