Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Theatre Scrub Nurse to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting complex surgical procedures within a dynamic hospital environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with extensive perioperative experience. The Senior Theatre Scrub Nurse will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of patient care, infection control, and aseptic technique throughout surgical operations.
Duties
* Prepare operating theatres and surgical instruments in accordance with aseptic protocols to ensure a sterile environment.
* Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is available and functioning correctly.
* Maintain detailed documentation of surgical procedures, instrument counts, and patient information.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
* Ensure compliance with Centre policies regarding infection prevention, physiology standards, and patient safety protocols.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior nursing staff and colleagues, sharing expertise
* Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with advances in surgical nursing practices.
Skills
* Proven expertise in surgery environments and patient care.
* In-depth knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
* Demonstrated competence in aseptic technique and maintaining sterile fields during operations.
* Ability to apply analysis skills for troubleshooting equipment issues or procedural complications swiftly.
* Excellent understanding of hospital protocols related to infection prevention and patient safety measures.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with additional qualifications in Immediate Life Support (ILS) preferred.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments.
* Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with multidisciplinary teams and patients' families.
