About The Team and The Role
Zoom is our fast‑growing, rapid delivery service, delivering convenience without compromise to customers in London. With over 10,000 products to choose from, Zoom gives customers more choice than other rapid delivery services, all delivered in less than 60 minutes. Although we work very closely with our colleagues in Ocado.com, Zoom is its own business, with a separate website and app, and a small dedicated team that works on ranging, pricing, promotion, the content of the website and app, and marketing. So, if you want to come and work for the world’s largest online‑only grocer in an entrepreneurial role, this is the team for you. This role is responsible for the commercial trading of multiple key product categories across the Zoom site. As we grow Zoom by Ocado, we are looking for an individual to support our growth plans. This role offers the unique opportunity to define the product offering and promotional strategy. There are over 10,000 products listed on Zoom by Ocado, and this role will manage approximately 3,000 of them, allowing autonomy to define and create the future of the area and affording great responsibility. Reporting into the Senior Buyer – Ambient, the Buyer will own their part of the range, ensuring we have the best proposition to serve our target customer segments and deliver key shopper missions. You will also own the promotional plan for the range, work with key partner suppliers, and various internal teams, to build a plan helping to drive increased sales and customer engagement, through great value and relevant offers.
What You’ll Do
* Regularly report department performance to Zoom leadership teams during trade meetings
* Produce regular category reviews, including data‑driven recommendations for range improvements. This will involve working closely with the Commercial Insights Analyst
* Host & attend regular meetings with suppliers on range and promotions, aligning with Zoom’s strategy
* Collaborate on supplier plans with our customer team and implement key media campaigns
* Manage the monthly promotional changeover of the category range within Zoom
* Actively contribute to the future Zoom range, launching new local suppliers and managing trading metrics
* Input into the promotional & events calendar, ensuring key activities related to this take place on time
* Collaborate with Supply Chain to optimise on‑site product availability and minimise purge
* End to end management of multiple projects, establishing and building relationships across the Retail team, wider Ocado business and with suppliers to ensure successful project outcomes
Who You Are
* Ability to act on a daily/hourly basis, maximising weather, seasonality and emerging trends opportunities
* Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail
* Has great organisational skills and is able to work on multiple deadlines
* Keen to learn, positive attitude and not afraid to ask questions
* Able to adapt to different personalities and colleagues with different levels of experience
* Strong commercial awareness, able to understand the wider commercial needs and priorities of the department
* Minimum of 2+ years, with previous commercial Retail or Grocery experience (Quick commerce, or convenience experience preferable).
* Strong Excel and IT skills
* A good team player
* Organisational skills to deal with a variety of different tasks at the same time
* Passion for working in Food and Retail, with a keen desire to learn and expand knowledge in this exciting industry
