THE ROLE
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Tax Assistant position based in East Kilbride. The role centres on managing and preparing personal tax returns, ensuring compliance with current legislation. You will work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver accurate, timely tax submissions. The position also involves leveraging your knowledge of accounting principles and software tools to optimise client solutions. The successful candidate will help streamline processes, support client queries, and contribute to the firm’s reputation for professionalism.
Prepare and review personal tax returns, including self-assessment and capital gains
Assist with compliance checks and ensure adherence to current tax laws
Collaborate with team members on complex tax issues and client projects
Maintain organised records and meet deadlines for multiple deliverables
Share industry updates and assist in implementing new tax legislation changes
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will bring solid experience in tax compliance and a strong understanding of relevant accounting principles. The right candidate is detail-oriented, well-organised, and able to communicate effectively, both internally and with clients. A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new tax legislation is essential.
Mandatory:
Proven experience in tax compliance and return preparation (min 2-3 years)
Knowledge of self-assessment, capital gains, and CIS tax areas
Familiarity with tax software and spreadsheets, ideally including accounting tools
Strong attention to detail with accuracy in deliverables
Awareness of current and upcoming tax legislation changes
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Preferred:
Professional qualification such as CTA, ATT, or equivalent
Experience with financial statements and general accounting principles
Good communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with ERP or specialised tax software
