We are looking for an enthusiastic 1st level qualified nurse who has a passion for improving patient outcomes through clinical research. The post is full time over 5 days per week working between the hours of 8-6 with some flexibility around clinic times.
You will be part of the cancer research team and primarily will be based in the Rosemere cancer centre but will work across the CHRI and LCRF as and when required.
Experience working in research or oncology along with a sound Knowledge of ICH GCP is an advantage to the successful candidate, as we have number of cancer studies in the pipeline due to open over the summer and early autumn.
As with any leadership role you will be expected to work autonomously on specific studies assigned to you. You will be the first point of contact for the trial’s units’ patients’ colleague, hospital department and clinicians alike.
You will have a supportive induction with relevant training provided and will be working along side a team with extensive experience in clinical research.
Main duties of the job
We work in close partnership with the local Clinical Research Networks and together we have developed a broad portfolio of high-quality research. We are excited to be strengthening our academic and industry links and building on the success of our existing programme of original research.
One of the main duties of the role will be to support the Centre for Health Research and Innovation as part of the research delivery team. You will work with the research delivery team to screen, coordinate, recruit and manage the administration of the medications or interventions on the patients who are enrolled into research studies. You will also be involved with data administration, and you will be supported by a band 7, other admin, clinical support staff and medics including doctors in each speciality. You will receive full training. Preferably you would have some research experience; however, it is not mandatory as training will be provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Support the research team in providing excellent, compassionate care to patients, relatives, and visitors involved in trials, whether in the hospital or at home.
2. Ensure a high standard of nursing care is delivered by yourself and others through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to meet patients’ needs, in line with local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines.
3. Demonstrate expert communication skills throughout the research process to assess participant eligibility and provide ongoing advice and information, facilitating effective informed consent.
4. Provide advice and support to multidisciplinary team members regarding ICH GCP, ethics approvals and amendments, study setup, delivery, and completion.
5. Contribute to clinical and research governance, including reporting adverse events and incidents, and collaborate on investigations and their management.
6. Take responsibility for the delivery and coordination of care through appropriate professional practice, including delegation and supervision of duties performed by junior staff.
7. Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team and external organizations as needed to ensure seamless care.
8. Facilitate the delivery of research trials within the hospital by coordinating and collaborating with principal investigators and other research delivery teams.

Essential criteria
9. Appropriate NMC Registration
10. Degree in Nursing / or equivalent post registration experience
11. Evidence of continuing professional education
12. Teaching and assessing/mentoring qualification.

14. Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject or demonstrable experience
