Work can be performed by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
ANY USA State provider License for this position - License Portability rules apply.
We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran. You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations. This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position conducts Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans average per day. This is an IN-PERSON position.
Travel requirements:
We would need you to commit to at least two weeks of travel each month.
Travel to assigned location Sunday evening, return to home city Friday evening or Saturday morning.
Must be willing to conduct exams for incarcerated Veterans on occasion.
Responsibilities
* Conduct disability assessments for United States Veterans as part of the VA benefits process.
* Review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform focused, in-person physical exams.
* Electronically document exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
* Ensure that you do not make disability determinations or prescribe medications in this role.
* Perform assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day in a clinical setting (mobile clinic or medical office).
Qualifications
* Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license (NCCPA accredited).
* ANY USA State provider license with license portability rules.
* Able to analyze data from medical records and exam findings to complete the questionnaire and form medical opinions.
* Skilled in time management and proficient with computers.
* Enjoy travel and be willing to travel as required.
* Must be comfortable working with incarcerated Veterans on occasion.
