An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacy technician to join our Pharmacy Aseptic Services team as the Senior Quality Assurance Aseptic Technician. It is an exciting time to join our team as we look to April 2027 when we move into the new Velindre Cancer Centre, and have a brand new aseptic unit to validate.
You will need to have demonstratable experience in aseptic services and quality assurance. You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and evidence of developing leadership qualities.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Quality Assurance Aseptic Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and high‑quality production of medicines within our Pharmacy Aseptic Services. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care by safeguarding the quality standards that underpin every product we dispense.
In this role, you will contribute directly to maintaining and improving our Pharmacy Quality Management System (QMS), supporting day‑to‑day quality operations, and driving continuous improvement across the service. Your expertise will help ensure our team operates in line with regulatory expectations, uphold Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and deliver high‑quality, timely outputs for patients and clinical teams.
You will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, working closely with Pharmacists, Technicians, Nurses and Nuclear Medicine Scientists. Reporting to the Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and System Manager, you will supervise and support technical staff, coordinate document control processes, lead investigations and audits, and contribute to quality reviews and departmental reporting. You will act as a champion for quality principles throughout the service and beyond.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
* National accreditation certificate for pre and in-process checking with aseptic processes.
* Technician Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Demonstrable expertise and knowledge of technical aspects of aseptic services equivalent to pharmacy degree level.
* An up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice
* Computing skills, ability to use Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook,
* To hold a NVQ Assessor’s qualification and have experience of training and mentoring staff.
Desirable criteria
* Accredited Product Approver
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant post qualification pharmacy technical experience with substantial experience of aseptic services. Also substantial experience in a Pharmacy Technician Higher Level post.
* To have demonstrable experience of supervising/managing staff
* Experience of training staff
Desirable criteria
* Experience of training a large staff group.
* Experience of implementing change.
