The Environment Agency (EA) is committed to fostering an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We value diversity and aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive.
Job Overview
Are you passionate about using data to make a real-world impact? Are you ready to analyze complex environmental data and tell compelling stories about our water environment? We are seeking two Evidence Advisors to join the EA’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme. These roles focus on designing and analyzing data from water monitoring networks across rivers, streams, groundwater, lakes, estuaries, and coasts.
The NCEA programme is part of a broader, multi-agency initiative led by Defra, which collects comprehensive data on ecosystems to demonstrate their benefits for society and the economy. Your analyses will support policy decisions that recognize the true value of nature, aiding the UK in meeting its environmental, net zero, and biodiversity goals.

* Work with network designers to ensure data collection is unbiased and representative.
* Apply statistical techniques to evaluate network performance, assess data quality, and support environmental data interpretation.
* Develop reproducible analytical pipelines.
* Conduct exploratory data analyses to identify key environmental relationships, leveraging domain knowledge and systems mapping.
* Integrate diverse datasets for regional and trend analysis reporting.
* Contribute to developing metrics and indicators, advising on future reporting needs.
This is a fixed-term contract until 30/05/2027.
The Team
You will be part of the Data Analysis and Statistics work package within the NCEA programme, supported by the Strategic Evidence Design and Assessment (SEDA) team. Our team values a friendly environment, staff development, and diversity. Training and support will be provided.
