A specialist provision in Peterlee is recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support a mixed-age class of 8–12 pupils aged 8–14, all with EHCPs. Needs include autism, moderate learning difficulties, ADHD and emotional regulation challenges. The Role You will be part of a small, consistent team supporting pupils across a structured timetable. Daily Structure Morning Routine • Visual timetable review • Structured classroom entry • Emotional readiness check In-Class Support You will: • Provide 1:1 and small group support • Support literacy interventions • Assist with maths scaffolding • Provide live marking and feedback • Reinforce behavioural expectations A strong focus is placed on improving reading and written communication across the curriculum. Lunch Lunch is supervised. Staff sit with pupils and continue relationship-building. After Pupils Leave Pupils leave at 2:30pm. Staff remain until 4:00pm for documentation and planning.
