Position Summary
The registered nurse administers patient care in hospital, inpatient, or observation settings, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions include:
1. Assessing patient needs and developing/revising individualized care plans based on patient responses and progress towards expected outcomes.
2. Respecting diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and patients.
3. Advocating for patients and their families.
4. Providing age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
5. Serving as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
6. Collaborating with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
7. Modeling professional behavior and supporting hospital and nursing goals.
8. Applying principles of growth and development, assessing patient data, and interpreting information to meet age-specific needs.
9. Coordinating patient care and delegating tasks appropriately.
10. Documenting care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
11. Demonstrating competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
12. Prioritizing patient care based on evidence-based standards.
13. Identifying and resolving problems effectively.
14. Delegating tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
15. Communicating patient status and unit concerns to team members.
16. Providing compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
17. Being aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
18. Supporting new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
19. Maintaining regular attendance and compliance with hospital policies and standards.
Other functions include contributing to team knowledge, participating in committees, peer review, mentoring, practicing resource efficiency, attending development sessions, and pursuing ongoing professional growth.
Qualifications
Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets competency requirements for Orlando Health and department.
Licensure/Certification: Current AL RN license or valid eNLC multistate license; BLS/Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC as required for specific units; NRP for NICU. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for Hospital Care at Home in-home nursing. Experience: 1 year minimum unless approved by AVP or higher; 2 years acute care experience required for Hospital Care at Home.
