Job Title: Shift Maintenance Engineer
Working for our client, a Sheffield-based Machining Technology business, supporting customers in providing machine tools and machine tool services within various industries including nuclear, defence, power generation, offshore oil and gas, and aerospace.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, as a Shift Maintenance Multiskilled Engineer, you will be based onsite in Sheffield's Machine Shops. Your responsibilities include carrying out maintenance tasks as part of a team to ensure the reliability of plant and equipment by undertaking planned preventative maintenance (PPM). You will ensure all supplies, materials, and parts are available to keep equipment functioning optimally while minimizing production disruptions.
The scope of the job:
The Shift Maintenance Multiskilled Engineer is responsible for activities related to:
* Equipment and facilities breakdowns and corrective actions.
* Planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
* Meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) within the operational department.
* Supporting new project implementation and equipment installation.
* Appraising equipment condition, refurbishment, and implementing continuous improvement activities.
* Developing personal skills and capabilities.
* Maintaining accurate and timely documentation via the Spidex CMMS system.
* Collaborating with the engineering team to ensure proper planning of maintenance work.
* Driving a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in achieving operational targets by maintaining equipment and facility uptime.
* Coordinate with Service Management and Production to resolve daily equipment issues.
* Diagnose and repair electronic, electrical, and mechanical faults efficiently.
* Support breakdown repairs across shifts to minimize downtime.
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective measures.
* Manage maintenance stock parts accurately.
* Participate in interdepartmental projects as assigned.
* Cover for other maintenance engineers during holidays and absences.
* Ensure all actions comply with company procedures and work instructions.
* Utilize the Spidex Maintenance Management system effectively.
* Provide timely updates on maintenance tasks to relevant management teams.
Shift Pattern and Salary:
Shifts are on a rotating pattern: Morning (6am-2pm), Afternoon (2pm-10pm), Night (10pm-6am). The role involves a 40-hour workweek, including breaks, with a maximum shift length of 12 hours.
Salary: £24.59 per hour. Overtime is paid at the same rate.
