Job overview Do you value enabling people to live well in the presence of the challenges life presents them? The Bath Centre for Pain Services (BCPS) provides treatment for people of all ages (children to older adults) from across the UK and internationally, with all types of complex chronic pain. We offer a range of therapeutic interventions to enable people to lead a satisfying and good life in the presence of their ongoing pain, often providing people with life changing experiences. We are a truly interdisciplinary team. Our treatment model is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which gives a foundation for creativity and innovation in therapy delivery. This post will suit a newly qualified Counselling or Clinical Psychologist or someone with experience wanting to develop ACT skills. You will benefit from a full induction where you will learn about chronic pain and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a team committed to high impact, evidence based treatment, likes a varied day, enjoys a clinical challenge and welcomes working alongside supportive and skilled colleagues. The clinical work is varied and interesting, and there is ample opportunity for developing clinical skills while working with people across the age range in such a collaborative environment.” Advert Our Service users are a diverse population apart from their shared experience of chronic pain. We are working towards being a fully inclusive & diverse clinical team and actively encourage applicants from all groups. We have a band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychology post (maternity cover) which has a breadth of clinical work rarely found. While all our service users have chronic pain most people treated have additional physical and mental health needs and we treat people of all ages. Our well established National Specialist Service has been relocated to a new building at the RUH which was specifically designed for us, giving us a lovely place to work. We are the only Chronic Pain Service in the UK able to treat people of all ages with highly complex chronic pain associated disability who requires care to be able to participate in treatment. The whole BCPS team are committed to research and regularly publish and present at scientific meetings. We have a education programme that including study days for professional and hosting 'Pain Forum' - a quarterly open lecture. There are weekly Clinical Development meetings for the team, Clinical Supervision and Psychology meetings. An annual training week is also provided for the Team with external trainers working with us to develop clinical skill further.
